Katou Kazuhiko is among Japan's most celebrated Manga-ka. His first published story was featured in Playboy in 1965. In 1967 he began work on  the Lupin III manga. It became a success and continues to be one of Japan's most loved series to this day. Among Monkey Punch's other manga achievements are Pinky Punky and Cindarella Boy.

Even after ending Lupin III, Monkey still draws manga and said he probably will until the day he dies. He has also directed his own anime series, including Lupin III: Dead or Alive. He maintains his own website The Knockout Lounge and is a member of the J-Mac (Japanese Macintosh Artist Club).
